CANplay is Halton’s only adaptive basketball skills program that welcomes all children ages 7 -12, regardless of ability.
We design our programs with neurodivergent children in mind, while remaining open and welcoming to any child who benefits from a supportive, low-pressure sports environment.
Founded by a team of parents, teachers, and behaviour therapists, CANplay helps children build skills, confidence, and — most importantly — a sense of fun and belonging.
If your child has found traditional sports programs intimidating, fast-paced, or overwhelming, CANplay is a place where all children can participate, grow, and belong.
Is CANplay right for my child?
CANplay Inclusive Athletics may be a great fit for children who:
-
Are neurodivergent (e.g., Autism, ADHD, or similar learning profiles) or
-
Feel anxious or out of place in traditional sports programs
-
Are new to sports or have had negative past experiences
-
Benefit from smaller groups, predictable routines, and supportive coaching
-
Are developing confidence, coordination, and social skills
-
Communicate using spoken language and can participate safely in a group setting
More Than Basketball
At CANplay, basketball is the vehicle — belonging is the goal.
Our sessions focus on skill development, movement, and teamwork in an environment designed to feel safe, welcoming, and encouraging. Children are supported to try new things, take risks, and experience success without pressure or comparison.
